About the presentation:

Reynolds Landing, in Birmingham, Alabama, is the first large-scale project of its kind, integrating connected technologies with DER assets to explore how these independently-tested technologies can benefit both customers and the grid. The neighborhood consists of 62 single-family homes with a community-scale microgrid, owned and operated by Alabama Power. Next generation high efficiency heat pumps for HVAC and heat pump water heaters will be used.  There will also be smart appliances connected to the home’s energy management system.  Home construction upgrades include items like triple-paned windows, smart outlets, LED lighting, R-49 insulation in the attic and 2x6 Zip walls with R-24 blown in blanket insulation in the walls.

At this meeting, Jim will share an overview and status update on the project. He will also specifically focus on some of the preliminary HVAC and building envelope performance data that has been collected during the recent cold snap in January of 2018. Afterwards, a tour of one of the homes will be offered.
